Marquise giardinetti ring in 18k gold and 800 silver, with open work setting decorated with a bouquet of flower with Rhine. French work from 2nd half of the 19th century (1850-1900).

'Giardinetti' from Italian word meaning "little garden" were very popular design in the 1800s. Rhinestones were rock crystals from the river Rhine, which gave the name. The availability of rhinestones increased greatly in the 18th century.
